Morang make short work of Kathmandu

In the final match, notable contributions from the top order steered Morang to 128-4 in 20 overs after they elected to bat first. Kathmandu, in reply, were skittled out for just 62 runs in 13 overs after Lalan Chaudhary wreaked havoc.
Chaudhary returned the figures of 4-21 from four overs as Kathmandu failed to match-up with their final opponents throughout their innings. Opener Ribesh Shrestha top scored for Kathmandu with 15 runs from 28 balls with a boundary.
None other Kathmandu batsmen managed to reach double figures as they managed to cross 50-run mark courtesy of 19 extra runs gifted by Morang. Ranjan Niraula also picked up 2-5 from one over for Morang.
Earlier, Morang lost their opener Moanj Ray (duck) with just six runs on the board before other batsmen helped them build on to a challenging total. Player-of-the-final Chaudhary (20) shared 57 runs for the second wicket with Subodh Thapa (23) to consolidate the innings.
Morang then lost both set batsmen along with Amrit Tamang (five) at 80-4 before Mohammad Shabbir and Zulfakar Ansari (18) forged a 48-run unbeaten fifth wicket partership. Shabbir top scored with a 32-ball 37 hitting four boundaries.
Along with the title, Morang collected a cash purse of Rs 50,000 and runners-up Kathmandu got Rs 40,000. Third-placed Sunsari, decided on better run rate, got Rs 30,000. Chaudhary was adjudged the man-of-the-series and best bowler.
