Kantipur Media Group successfully defended their Media Cup title defeating Image Channel on penalties at Dasharath Stadium on Tuesday.

Kantipur defeated Image 5-4 on penalties after the regular 60 minutes and extra 15 minutes ended on 1-1 draw.

Sunil Tamrakar scored for Image capitalising on a defensive mistake to provide the lead on fifth minute. Santa Kumar Shrestha leveled the score with a free kick on 55th minute. The 15 minutes extra time could not separate the two sides and the title was decided on penalties.

Shrestha, Suraj Moktan, Samir Tamang, Nirajan Karki and Nabin Khadka scored for Kantipur on penalties. Sambandhan Pradhan, Janak Gurung, Sunil Tamrakar and Bijaya Karki also found the net while Yoddha Thapa skied his shot.

Kantipur also bagged a cash prize of Rs 50,000 while runner-up Image won 25,000. Image's Devendra Maharjan won the Best Player award while AP One Television's Bibek Shrestha won the Best Goalkeeper. Moktan became the highest scorer in the tournament with four goals.
