Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) defeated Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) 2-0 to lift the second Hetauda Goldcup Football tournament on Saturday.

Bharat Khawas and Santosh Tamang scored for the departmental side to defeat the defending champions and claim the title.

Khawas opened the scoring on 18th minute capitalising on a Dipak Gurung cross. MMC was reduced to 10 men after their African recruit Olawale Afeez was red carded on 19th minute. Referee Sudish Panday cautioned him with a yellow car after a foul on TAC' goal scorer Tamang. But he was shown red card after he launched foul-mouthed verbal attack on referee Panday.

TAC made the most of the numerical advantage and Tamang scored from a free-kick on 84th minute to double their lead. MMC goalie Dinesh Thapa Magar was a mere spectator when Tamang curled in the free-kick after Bharat Khawas was fouled by MMC's defender.

MMC tried to get back on the game with Sujal Shrestha, Anil Gurung and Bimal Rana all trying their luck but could not get past TAC's keeper Bikesh Kuthu.

TAC won cash prize of Rs 500,000 while runner ups MMC took Rs 300,000. TAC's Tamang was named as Player of the Tournament and received Rs 50,000. Tamang also won the Best Midfielder award to pocket another Rs 15,000. TAC's Kuthu was named Best Goalkeeper, forward Bharat Khawas was Best Forward and coach Nabin Neupane was Best Coach of the tournament. MMC's Biraj Maharjan won Best Defender. Each player won Rs 15,000 with the award.
