Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club rallied from a goal down to stun hosts Kakarbhitta Football Training Centre (KFTC) 5-4 in tiebreaker to enter the final of the Kakarbhitta Gold Cup on Thursday.
The match was pushed to tiebreaker after both teams were locked at 1-1 after 90-minute of regulation time. On Saturday’s final, APF will take on title contenders Jhapa XI, who on Wednesday had swept aside Rupandehi XI 4-0 with a hat-trick from Karna Limbu.
The hosts went ahead in the 42nd minute through Nishant Limbu. The joy, however, was short-lived for KFTC after Ramesh Dangal produced a 44th minute stunner to bring APF back in the game.
Both teams created quite a few scoring opportunities but failed to break the deadlock pushing the game to penalty shootout.
The opening goal scorer Limbu failed in the penalty shootout and that miss was the only difference. Jeevan Gurung, Sanjay Rajwag, Aaditya Karki and Samson converted for KFTC. Sudeep Sikhrakar, Nabin Lama, Milan Rai, Raju Yogi and Prabin Syangtan were on target for the winning side.
