Nepal chose to bat first after winning the toss and posted a modest target of 224 runs against Uganda today.

The Ugandan side were bundled up for 161 in 44.1 overs. Wicketkeeper Roger Mukasa scored 51 off 52 balls and put up a decent fight though he had to retire hurt in the eighth over.

Nepali bowlers performed well in today’s match with Bhuvan Karki claiming 4 wickets in his name, Basanta Regmi 2 wickets and Shakti Gauchan, Sompal Kami and Sagar Pun claiming one wicket each.

Earlier, the Nepali team lost all of its wickets in the 49.5 over scoring 223 runs with three players completing their half centuries. Sagar Pun scored the highest, 64 off 99 balls, while Naresh Budayair added 51 off 73 balls. Vice captain Gyanendra Malla continued his good form and scored 56 runs from 65 balls.

After Malla’s departure, the bottom order batsmen could not hold on and Nepal lost 5 of its remaining wickets in the last three overs.

For the Ugandan side, Roger Mukasa took six wickets in his 3.5 over spell giving just 27 runs.

Both Nepal and Uganda have already secured their position at the ICC World Cup Cricket League Division II.
