Civil, NIC Asia enter semis
Civil Bank, NIC Asia Bank, Ncell and Janata Bank entered the semi-finals of the Qatar Airways Indoor 8’s Tournament at the Royal Indoor Cricket on Friday.Civil Bank finished unbeaten to go through as Group ‘A’ winners with 20 points from five matches, while NIC Asia were second with 16 points. Ncell topped Group ‘B’ with 20 points and were followed by runners-up Janata - who had 14 points - in the last four.
Civil Bank won both of their matches on Friday defeating NIC Asia by 32 runs after overcoming Max Media by 42 runs. In the first match, Civil made 113 and stopped Max Media on 71 runs, while they squeezed out NIC Asia for 68 runs before replying with 100 runs in 12 overs.
NIC Asia, earlier, edged Radisson Hotel by 20 runs. Radisson made 94 before NIC Asia replied with 114 runs. Ncell, meanwhile, filed a comprehensive 130-run victory over Qatar Airways in their last match of the tournament. They made 175 from 12 overs in reply to Qatar Airways’ 35. Ncell’s victory also sent Janata Bank - who were not in action on the day - in the semi-finals.
Qatar Airways later lost to Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) by 13 runs. NSJF made 110 and restricted Qatar Airways for just 97. NSJF later lost to Last Door Solution by 77 runs. Radisson, Max Media and Yeti Holidays also registered victory in other matches of the day. Civil Bank will now meet Janata Bank in the last four, while Ncell take on NIC Asia. Both the semi-finals and final are slated for Saturday.
