Pradhan, Alam get national team recall
Veteran spinner Raj Kumar Pradhan and allrounder Mehboob Alam made a comeback to the national squad after their excellent performance in the Senior One-day National cricket tournament.Both the players were on Monday named in the 18-member squad announced by the Cricket Association of Nepal for the ACC Premier League slated for May 1-8 in Malaysia.
Left-handed bowler Alam, who holds an astonishing record of single-handedly bowling out an opposition, last played for his country in the World Twenty20 Qualifier in 2012. Alam took all 10 wickets against Mozambique during their ICC World Cricket League Division-V tournament in Jersey in 2008.
Paceman bowler Yagya Man Kumal and batting allrounders Puspha Thapa and Arif Sheikh are the new faces. Bhuwan Karki and Ram Naresh Giri, who had already played for the senior team, were also drafted in after being ignored for 50 and 20-over World Cup Qualifiers as well as the T20 World Cup.
Karki, who led the U-19 team in the ACC U-19 Elite last year, was a member of the senior team during their 2012 ACC Trophy which Nepal shared with the United Arab Emirates. Giri was a member of the 2013 ACC Emerging Teams tournament.
CAN kept faith on rest of the squad that featured in Nepal's inspirational run in the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. Skipper Paras Khadka, his deputy Gyanendra Malla, Sharad Vesawkar, Shakti Gauchan, Basanta Regmi, Binod Bhandari, Sagar Pun, Subash Khakurel, Sompal Kami, Naresh Budhayer and Amrit Bhattarai were all retained for the ACC Premier League.
Rahul BK, Pradeep Airee, Anil Mandal and Avinash Karn were axed while medium pacer Jitendra Mukhiya missed out due to injury.
