Same-sex marriage registered in Kohalpur
The Supreme Court, in a landmark ruling on June 27, had ordered the government to register marriages involving same-sex and non-heterosexual couples.

Anju Devi Shrestha, a 33-year-old woman resident of Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality, Bardiya, and Suprita Gurung, a 33-year-old woman resident of Bandipur Rural Municipality, Tanahun, registered a same-sex marriage on Monday.
The Supreme Court, in a landmark ruling on June 27, had ordered the government to register marriages involving same-sex and non-heterosexual couples.
According to Deepak Nepali, ward secretary of ward 5 of Kohalpur Municipality, Banke, the couple registered their marriage at the ward office after filling out a marriage registration form on January 18.
This is the first registered lesbian marriage in the country, Nepali said.
