Continuous rainfall has disrupted traffic along the BP Highway after diversions at multiple locations were washed away, bringing vehicular movement to a complete halt.

According to the District Police Office, Kavre, sections of the Katunje–Mangaltar road stretch, including the Ghumauane area and other points in between, were damaged after diversion structures were swept away by rain.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabin Bista, spokesperson for the district police, said traffic movement on the highway was fully obstructed in both directions from 11pm on Saturday.

He said vehicles have been held at Dhulikhel, Kavrebhanjyang, Bhakunde and Mangaltar.

Authorities said it is unclear how long it will take to repair the damaged sections and restore traffic. Police have urged travellers to check the road conditions before setting out on the route.
