A 13-year-old girl drowned in the Chiruwa River at Bagmati Rural Municipality in Makwanpur district on Monday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Rubina Tamang of Ward 1 of Bagmati Rural Municipality. She had gone to bathe in the river with two friends when she was submerged in the water.
Rubina was rescued and taken to a nearby clinic, but died while undergoing treatment, according to the police.
Her body has been sent to Hetauda Hospital for post-mortem.
