Police arrested an Indian national in possession of 180kg of marijuana on Friday.
Kundan Patel from Raxaul of Bihar was arrested on Friday from the Rapti-1 section of the Lothar highway after police found 16 packets, totalling 180kg, of marijuana in his truck, said Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Karki.
The 30-year-old and the seized contraband were made public during a press conference on Saturday.
Police had received a tip about the contraband drugs being transported to India in the vehicle. Acting on the same, police on Friday inspected Patel’s truck, following which the illegal substance was found in the vehicle’s cabin, Karki added.
Police have taken the accused and the truck, with an Indian registration number, under their control.
Further investigation into the matter is ongoing, police said.
