Indian nationals arrested for ornament smuggling
Police, on Tuesday, confiscated gold ornaments, diamonds and other gemstones worth Rs10 million, along with a car bearing an Indian registration number.

Police have arrested three Indian nationals on charge of smuggling valuable ornaments and jewels into Nepal.
The Chitwan Police Office on Wednesday made public Binod Prasad, 42; Naresh Barma, 42; and Ganpat Kumar Tosawar, 51; who were arrested early on Tuesday from Gondrang in Bharatpur-12.
Police confiscated gold ornaments, diamonds, and other gemstones valued at Rs10 million, along with the car they were driving, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bijay Raj Pandit.
The car with an Indian registration number was searched by the police after they received a tip about the crime. The ornaments were hidden under the driver’s seat, in the gearbox, and in the air filter, Pandit said.
According to a preliminary investigation, the ornaments, found to be authentic, had been brought in from Kolkata and were being taken to Kathmandu.
The confiscated jewelry will be handed over to the Revenue Investigation Office in Bara Pathalaiya, the police said.
Further investigation into the matter will be carried out at the revenue office, Pandit informed.
