An elderly man was murdered by a group of robbers at Sada of Manarashisawa Municipality-4 in Mahottari district on Saturday morning.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Santulal Prasad Jaiswar, the robbers killed Sushil Jha, aged 70, and looted his house in the wee hours on Saturday.
A group of some five to seven robbers barged into Jha’a house and looted cash and valuables.
The assailants strangled the victim to death as he retaliated against the robbery. They whisked away Rs 80,000 cash and some gold jewelry.
Search is on to nab the robbers involved in the crime, said police.
