Two dead, 13 injured in Jhapa bus accident
Passenger bus overturns on East-West Highway in Birtamod after losing control, driver absconding.Post Report
Two people were killed and 13 others injured when a passenger bus overturned in front of Giri Bandhu Tea Estate in ward 6 of Birtamod Municipality along the East-West Highway on Thursday morning.
According to the Area Police Office, Anarmani, the Sagarmatha Yatayat bus, travelling from Biratnagar to Kakarbhitta, went out of control and overturned at around 9:30am. Police said the driver fled the scene after the accident.
The deceased have been identified as 46-year-old Dinesh Kumar Bhattarai of ward 11 in Itahari Sub-metropolitan City, Sunsari, and 42-year-old Raj Kumar Chaudhary of ward 2 in Rangeli Municpality, Morang. Police said Chaudhary was the bus conductor.
Police said the injured were rescued and taken to B&C Hospital in Birtamod for treatment. Some of them are reported to have sustained mild injuries,
