Police open fire in Damak as Gen Z protest intensifies
One injured, town remains tense after clashes.

Police opened fire in Damak, the hometown of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, after a Gen-Z protest escalated on Sunday, eyewitnesses said.
One person was injured in the firing, while the protest left the town tense.
The demonstration began at 11 am from the Akashe Bridge and marched to the Damak Municipality office. Police baton-charged protesters during the rally.
Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, spokesperson for Jhapa Police, said the situation in front of the municipality office turned tense and attempts were being made to vandalise the premises. He said he was heading to the site and added that police were still verifying details about the firing.
Gen Z demonstrations were also reported in Birtamod and Damak, where protesters chanted slogans against Prime Minister Oli in his own hometown.
