A man died after a fire engulfed his house in ward 2 of Phidim Municipality, Panchthar.

Jaya Prakash Rai suffered severe burns while trying to remove belongings from his house when the fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon. He succumbed to injuries on Wednesday.

Rai was initially treated at Ganesh Man Singh Hospital in Phidim, then transferred to B&C Hospital in Jhapa before being taken to Nepal Cleft and Burn Centre in Kirtipur.

He died at around 1am on Wednesday, according to the family.
