Police on Thursday arrested a 62-year-old man on charge of raping a 29-year-old woman in Khotang.

A Jantedhunga Rural Municipality-6 local was sent to the Diktel District Police Office on Friday for investigation after the victim lodged a complaint accusing the man of committing the crime on July 10.

The victim has also been sent to Diktel for medical examination, said Police Inspector Raju Niraula.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Purushottam Khadka, the complaint has been received but is yet to be registered. 

“The complaint has also been received and the registration process is underway,” Khadka said.

Locals alleged that attempts are being made to ‘settle’ the rape case.
