A student died and eight other students were injured when a tractor met with an accident at Dumrise in ward 4 of Yangwarak Rural Municipality on Wednesday morning.

According to Police Inspector Kamal Lungeli, information officer at the Panchthar District Police Office, all the students were studying at the local Siddheshwari Secondary School, and they were going to school on the tractor.

The tractor lost control and fell some 15 meters down the hill, killing the sixth grader on the spot. The injured students are receiving treatment at the district hospital.

The tractor driver is absconding, and efforts are being made to catch him, said Lungeli.
