A 72-year-old Bhutanese refugee living in Hut number 252 at the Bhutanese Refugee Camp Sector B (2) in Damak Municipality, Jhapa was found dead inside the local Hamse Dumse Community Forest on Wednesday.
According to the District Police Office, the man had gone to the forest to collect firewood on Tuesday at noon, but did not return home until the evening. The police suspect that the man was trampled by an elephant.
The body of the deceased will be handed over to the relatives after the post-mortem, police said. This year, six people have died in Jhapa in elephant attacks.
