People’s representatives and local administrations of Nepal and India have decided to conduct joint patrols to reduce human-elephant conflict.
Officials of both countries have also decided to take initiatives for human-elephant coexistence.
According to Arjun Kumar Karki, ward chairman of Mechinagar Municipality ward 4, a 17-point agreement was reached during a meeting in Naxalbadi, India, on Wednesday, including providing training and resources to the Rapid Response Team in both countries; and insuring crops and houses on both sides to tackle the common problem of both countries due to wild elephants.
