An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck Taplejung district in the wee hours of Monday morning.
According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, the quake with the epicentre in Lelep of the district was recorded at 4:30am.
No human casualties have been reported so far.
On January 24, a woman died following a 5.9 magnitude earthquake that rattled west Nepal with an epicentre in Bajura district.
At least six persons died following an earthquake that struck west Nepal on November 10 last year.
