Panchthar
A new mother from Kummayak Municipality of Panchthar district died on Wednesday night after she was deprived of an ambulance service to take her to a hospital.
19-year-old Manisha Acharya (Gadtaula), who gave birth to a healthy baby at Mangjabung heath post yesterday night, died after attempts to take her to a hospital following post-delivery complications failed.
Her relatives said they searched for a vehicle to take her to a well-equipped hospital, but to no avail.
Dr Buddhi Bahadur Thapa, Head of Panchthar Hospital, said Acharya died due to excessive bleeding after the delivery.
Maternity services are not available in other health institutions of the district apart from the district hospital and primary health centres.
