Nepali Congress candidate Dr. Narayan Khadka has been elected to the House of Representatives from Udayapur-1. He received 31,270 votes.
Khadka finished 2,379 votes ahead of his closest rival, Manju Kumari Chaudhary of the CPN-UML, who garnered 28,891 votes.
The vote counting in Udayapur-1 was stalled on Sunday morning following a dispute after 100 votes cast for the provincial assembly were found in a ballot box for the first-past-the-post category for the House of Representatives.
Chaudhary had boycotted the counting after the counting resumed on Tuesday.
