Chinese national was rescued alive from a tunnel at the Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower project 10 days after he became trapped there, the Nepali Army said.

The man, identified as Luhaitao, was found about 225 metres inside the tunnel by a joint rescue team involving the Nepali Army and foreign rescuers. The team brought him out of the tunnel alive, army spokesperson Rajaram Basnet said.

Luhaitao was undergoing a medical check-up after his rescue. The rescue came as search teams continued working at the Upper Trishuli-1 project, where people were believed to be trapped following the devastating Bhotekoshi flood.
