A Chinese national was rescued alive from the Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower project’s tunnel on the 10th day after being trapped there, Nepali Army spokesman Rajaram Basnet said.
A joint rescue team involving the Nepali Army and foreign rescuers found Luhaitao about 225 metres inside the tunnel and brought him out alive. He is undergoing a medical check-up, while the search and rescue operation at the project continues.
Separately, the Armed Police Force rescued 60-year-old Chandika Shrestha from the upper floor of a four-storey house buried under debris in Betravati, Nuwakot.
The nine-member team, led by Armed Police Inspector Suman Kumar BK, carried out the rescue in Bidur Municipality-10, police said.
