As loan shark victims began marching towards Kathmandu in protest, the government has decided to immediately implement the reports of all previously formed commissions on loan sharking through the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday. The Cabinet convened shortly after Home Minister Sudan Gurung travelled to Nijgadh of Bara district to initiate talks with the agitating victims.
According to Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel, the meeting—chaired by Prime Minister Shah—made five major decisions.
In other decisions, the Cabinet approved the First Amendment Regulations on Seeds, following a proposal tabled by the Ministry of Agriculture. The government also decided to provide incentive allowances to personnel of the Armed Police Force (APF) and other employees deployed in disaster response.
Furthermore, the Cabinet announced cash prizes and honours for athletes and coaches who have won medals in international competitions.
The meeting also appointed Maheshwor Bhakta Shrestha as the executive chairperson of Nepal Airlines Corporation, additionally assigning him the responsibilities of general manager of the national flag carrier.
