The Upendra Yadav-led Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal has unveiled its election manifesto for the House of Representatives polls, placing constitution amendment and rewriting at the centre of its agenda.
The party said the current constitution has failed to fully embrace the fundamental principles of inclusive and social democracy.
The party has proposed forming a high-level constitution review commission comprising constitutional experts. It said the constitution should be amended, revised or rewritten based on the commission’s recommendations.
The manifesto was made public at a programme in Kathmandu on Friday.
The party has adopted the slogan “struggle alongside prosperity”. It said it envisions a state model where the primary objective of the state is to deliver quality services to citizens.
The party has emphasised just service delivery, equal opportunity and transparent governance, stating that these pillars can actively engage citizens in nation-building.
Through the manifesto, the party has pledged to establish an inclusive democratic governance system and build an egalitarian society by implementing its proposed programmes.
