The Koshi Excellence Award 2026 will be aired live on Kantipur Television next month.
An agreement was sealed on Thursday between Pawan Adhikari, chairperson of Nayan Media Foundation and Kantipur Television’s business head, Sagar KC and marketing manager, Anupam Adhikari, to this effect.
The excellence award, to be held at the Soltee Western Hotel in Itahari on February 19, aims to recognise contributions to the promotion of tourism, business, and socio-cultural identity.
This award, established as the largest and most prestigious award of Koshi Province, has been honouring personalities who were born in the province and have made notable contributions at the national and international levels.
“Three new categories–automobile, music, and capital market have been added to the award category this year, bringing the total number of award categories to 16,” Adhikari was quoted in a statement.
Last year, awards were presented in more than a dozen categories, including education, health, communication, literature, tourism, agriculture, corporate, banking, sports, social service, startup, technology, and insurance.
Chairperson Adhikari stated that a high-level jury committee has been formed to enhance the award's credibility and national recognition.
Former Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Maha Prasad Adhikari, has been appointed as the chief advisor of the jury committee, while a four-member jury panel has been formed under the coordination of Constituent Assembly member Pawan Sharda. The committee, Adhikari said, is moving forward with the selection process for award recipients swiftly and transparently.
At a time when the Koshi Provincial government has advanced the preparations for Koshi Tourism Year-2082, the organisers believe that the award programme will play a significant role in promoting the province’s tourism, business, and socio-cultural identity.
