Schools in three local units of Kanchanpur have been closed after extreme cold made daily life difficult and disrupted classroom activities. The closures affect both community and private schools.

Laljhadhi Rural Municipality, Belauri Municipality, and Beldandi Rural Municipality announced the break to protect children, teachers, and staff, particularly as the cold has a greater impact on children and the elderly.

Beldandi Rural Municipality said schools will remain closed for three days from Monday. Belauri Municipality extended the winter break until Friday, citing health concerns, according to spokesperson Harka Bahadur Bhul. Laljhadhi Rural Municipality issued a notice closing schools for two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, adjusting for the scheduled winter break.

Continuous cold has affected daily life across Mahendranagar and the surrounding local units, reducing activity in local markets and creating challenges for residents.
