Armed Police Force repair nearly 2,700 Nepal-India border pillars
Force says maintenance followed mandate from joint border working group, with India fixing 925 pillars in same period.Post Report
The Armed Police Force has repaired about 2,690 pillars that mark the Nepal–India boundary since the fiscal year 2023-24. The responsibility was assigned after a joint meeting of the bilateral border working group, which directed both sides’ security agencies to maintain the boundary markers.
According to Manish Thapa, spokesperson for APF 2,137 pillars were repaired in fiscal year 2023-24, 498 in 2024-25 and 55 up to mid-November this fiscal year.
The work includes 258 main pillars, 662 auxiliary pillars and the rest of the smaller markers. India has repaired 925 pillars over the same period.
Nepal and India share roughly 1,880 kilometres of border. The APF has deployed about 10,000 personnel for border security, with manpower stationed through 250 border outposts.
