The Special Court on Monday convicted engineer Santosh Kumar Yadav of the Urban Development and Building Construction Project Office in Okhaldhunga of corruption.
A bench of judges Narayan Prasad Paudel, Hemanta Rawal and Bidur Koirala passed the verdict.
The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority had arrested Yadav on May 17 with Rs570,000 in bribe money. During his statement in court, Yadav admitted receiving the bribe, leading the court to pronounce him guilty.
He had demanded a bribe from a service seeker for releasing money for a road under construction in Khotang district. Acting on a tip-off, a team from the CIAA arrested him with the money from Lokanthali in ward 1 of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality in Bhaktapur.
