The 79th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated at the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu with a flag hoisting ceremony attended by members of the Pakistani community, Nepali well-wishers, and embassy officials with their families.
The national flag was unfurled, and prayers were offered in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom.
The participants of the event highlighted the day’s significance as a reminder of courage, unity and the sacrifices that led to the creation of Pakistan. They paid homage to founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah and those involved in the Pakistan Movement, while recalling the nation’s resilience and achievements over the past 78 years in areas ranging from the economy to sports, defence and information technology.
At the ceremony, speakers praised the role of the armed forces and the unity of the nation, pledging to continue working for peace, progress and national sovereignty.
