Post Report
The Tibetan refugee community in Nepal commemorated the 90th birth anniversary of their exiled spiritual leader, the 14th Dalai Lama, with a ceremonial programme on Sunday. Tenzin Gyatso, known globally as the Dalai Lama, reached the age of 90 today.
The celebrations were held in two key locations: Lazimpat, where the Tibetan Refugee Welfare Office organised a formal gathering, and Jawalakhel, where members of the Tibetan diaspora came together to pay tribute through prayer and traditional rituals.
The event saw the presence of ambassadors and representatives from several western nations, along with officials from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). In a gesture of continued spiritual connection, a message from the Dalai Lama was read out to the attendees.
Adhering to Tibetan customs, devotees offered prayers and worshipped the portrait of their spiritual guide, expressing heartfelt wishes for his long life and continued guidance.
