A key section of the Tribhuvan Highway will be closed to vehicular traffic for four hours on Friday and Saturday this week to facilitate urgent maintenance work, officials confirmed.
According to the Road Division Office in Hetauda, the Lamidanda–Simbhanjyang stretch will be shut between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm on both days. The temporary closure is required to carry out road repairs and to install hume pipes at Ranibhanjyang bend—a narrow and strategically important point along the route.
A public notice issued by the Makwanpur District Administration Office on Tuesday stated, “Due to road maintenance and hume pipe installation work at Ranibhanjyang along the Lamidanda–Simbhanjyang section of the Tribhuvan Highway, vehicular movement will be halted for four hours each day on Friday and Saturday.”
Officials have advised commuters and transport operators to plan their travel accordingly and consider using alternative routes during the closure period. No specific detour has been announced yet.
The Tribhuvan Highway remains a vital east–west corridor linking Hetauda with Kathmandu and other parts of the country.
