The government will begin blending bioethanol into petrol starting from fiscal year 2025-26, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel announced while presenting the national budget.

In his budget speech, Paudel said the initiative aims to promote cleaner fuel alternatives and reduce dependency on imported fossil fuels.

The government also plans to expand and construct petroleum infrastructure, including the Amlekhgunj–Lothar pipeline and the Siliguri–Chaarali pipeline and storage facilities.
