The Nepali embassy in India on Friday urged Nepali citizens across India to remain alert and comply with official safety guidelines as India-Pakistan tensions escalate following a deadly attack in the northern region of Jammu and Kashmir.

The embassy issued a public notice asking Nepalis in India to identify nearby safe locations in case of emergencies and to adhere to security instructions issued by Indian authorities.

In the notice, the embassy provided emergency contact numbers for citizens needing assistance, including a hotline (+91-8929601925) and its main office number in New Delhi (+91-11-23446200). The Nepali Consulate General in Kolkata also remains available at +91-0324561224 and +91-9748466900.

Nepal has a significant population living and working across India, including students, labour migrants, and professionals.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is in constant contact with Nepali nationals, including students, in Pakistan as tensions rise between the two southern neighbours.

In a statement, the ministry said the government remains “fully alert” regarding the safety of its citizens following escalating hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
