Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba left for Oman on Friday, leading a four-member Nepali delegation to participate in the ‘8th Indian Ocean Conference’ at the invitation of Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi.
Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs saw her off at Tribhuvan International Airport.
The conference, themed ‘Voyage to New Horizons of Maritime Partnership,’ is being held in Muscat.
During her visit, Deuba will address the plenary session on ‘Amplifying the Voice of the Global South’ and hold bilateral meetings with her Omani counterpart, the minister for energy and minerals, and other key officials.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the two countries are expected to sign a few memorandums of understanding in various areas of cooperation.
Deuba will also hold a virtual meeting with Nepali ambassadors and heads of mission in Gulf Cooperation Council countries and interact with the Nepali community in Muscat.
She is scheduled to return home on Thursday.
