Three foreigners arrested with 5.7 kg gold at Tribhuvan International Airport

Authorities on Tuesday evening apprehended three individuals carrying 5.7 kg of gold at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Thapa, joint spokesperson for the Armed Police Force, said a Chinese national and two Myanmar nationals were detained upon arrival from Sharjah, the UAE, on an Air Arabia flight.
The gold was hidden inside 12 speakers in their luggage and discovered during a customs re-check at the baggage area. A joint team from the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office and the Armed Police Force’s customs security unit detained the suspects, who are currently under investigation.
