The death toll from the recent floods and landslides has reached 244, with 19 people still missing and 179 injured.
According to Home Ministry’s spokesperson Rishiram Tiwari, 17,174 people have been rescued from affected areas, and efforts are ongoing to restore disrupted highways and provide relief.
“The government is collecting details of the victims at the local level, and once verified, aid for temporary housing will be distributed. Local authorities have already provided food and other essentials to affected families,” said Tiwari.
The government has provided Rs 200,000 each to families of the deceased through the district disaster management fund, with 160 families receiving assistance so far.
Kavrepalanchok has seen the highest number of casualties, with 77 deaths, and 59 families have received the relief amount, according to Tiwari.
