President Ramchandra Paudel on Tuesday approved the resignation of Attorney General Dinmani Pokharel.
The Office of the President, in a statement, said the President approved the resignation tendered by Pokharel through Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Attorney General Pokharel, who was appointed by the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government in December 2022, resigned after the new government was formed.
Pokharel’s resignation follows the tradition of the legal adviser to the government customarily resigning with the change of government.
Pokharel had courted controversy for issuing a letter to then Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, stating that there were no cases against him in the cooperative fraud case.
