Speaker Ghimire adjourns meeting after no Cabinet ministers turn up.Post Report
Thursday's meeting of the House of Representatives was adjourned without entering agendas due to the absence of any Cabinet ministers.
The meeting, scheduled for 4pm, started after a delay of one and a half hours.
At the start of the meeting, Nepali Congress lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada drew the attention of the Speaker saying that at least one minister must be present during the House meeting, but none were present there.
“Shouldn’t a prime minister know that ministers and the prime minister must be present during the House meeting?” questioned Khatiwada.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire adjourned the meeting, citing Rule 6(5) of the House of Representatives Regulations, which mandates the presence of ministers at the meeting.
The next House of Representatives meeting is scheduled for Friday at 11am, where Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will present a vote of confidence motion.
