Deuba calls joint meeting of central working committee and parliamentary party

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a joint meeting of the party’s central working committee and the parliamentary party.
According to chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel, the meeting will discuss the latest political developments and will be held on Wednesday at the party’s central office in Sanepa.
The Nepali Congress has been continuously obstructing both houses of the federal parliament, demanding the formation of a parliamentary probe committee into the cooperative fraud case against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
The Congress lawmakers protested in the House of Representatives on Sunday while the deputy prime minister spoke and on Monday as well while Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal underwent a floor test.
During a press meet on Monday, Nepali Congress Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak challenged Deputy Prime Minister Lamichhane to prove his allegations against Congress leaders. Lekhak also raised questions regarding the role of the Speaker.
The opposition lawmakers have accused the Speaker of taking the side of the ruling parties while conducting House meetings.
