The newly-formed Janata Samajbadi Party on Monday forwarded the name of Pradip Yadav, deputy general secretary of the party, for his appointment as the minister for health and population.

The party also recommended Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to appoint Hasina Khan as minister of state for health and population, according to Mohammad Ishtiyaq Rayi, the party’s general secretary.

The prime minister is likely to induct them into his Cabinet later today.

The party has also recommended the name of Ranju Jha for the appointment as a minister. However, her appointment is uncertain as no ministerial portfolio is vacant now. The prime minister has to split a ministry to create a portfolio for her.

Nawal Kishor Shah Sudi from the same party is currently the minister for Forest and Environment.

A group of leaders led by Ashok Rai split the Upendra Yadav-led party to form Janata Samajbadi Party last week.

As the new party joins the Dahal-led Cabinet, the Yadav’s party has pulled out of the government.

Earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav resigned from the post. Yadav, also the chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Dahal saying that he couldn’t stay in the Dahal-led government any longer in the changed political context.

Similarly, Minister of State for Forest and Environment Deepak Karki from the same party also tendered his resignation.
