Court extends remand of Top Bahadur Rayamajhi by three days

The Kathmandu District Court has extended the custody of former deputy prime minister and CPN-UML leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, who was arrested in connection with the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, by three days.
According to the court’s Information Officer Dipak Dahal, the court extended Rayamajhi’s remand by three days for further investigation into the case.
Police on Sunday, had arrested Rayamajhi from Pasikot in Budhanilkantha on the northern rim of Kathmandu. He had been on the run since May 4 after the Kathmandu District Court issued an arrest warrant against him and his son. Police have already arrested his son, Sandeep.
The police have so far arrested 13 people in connection with the scam. They have been accused of falsifying government documents to send people to the US as Bhutanese refugees.
