The Rastriya Swatantra Party has decided not to forge an electoral alliance for April 23 by-elections.
A central working committee meeting of the party on Friday decided to contest the polls single-handedly, said Mukul Dhakal, the party’s spokesperson.
The Election Commission has scheduled by-elections in Chitwan-2, Tanahun-1 and Bara-2 for April 23.
“We have decided not to form an alliance with other parties for the by-elections. We will field our candidates in all the constituencies,” said Dhakal.
“The meeting decided to register the party for the by-elections and moved ahead with the process for candidate selection.”
The meeting also formed an election mobilisation committee under the leadership of joint general secretary Kabindra Burlakoti for Tanahun, vice president Dol Prasad Aryal for Chitwan and central member Ganesh Karki for Bara.
