Addressing the closing of the federal parliament meeting on Thursday, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara read out the letter from President Bidhya Devi Bhandari regarding the conclusion of the budget session. The budget session effectively concludes from Thursday midnight.
Earlier at the meeting, Speaker Mahara gave a brief overview of the major tasks accomplished by the second session of the House. He said the second session of the House of Representatives met for 135 days. He also noted that the joint sittings of both the House of Representatives and National Assembly houses were convened four times within a span of one month from May 21 to June 22. The house session endorsed parliamentary regulations, discussed and passed the government’s annual policies and programmes and formed the thematic committees of both the upper and lower house.
He said the house session endorsed the resolution motion on violence against women, held deliberations on the proposals of public importance such as controlling the growing anomalies in the country’s development and medical education sector.
House Speaker informed that the lawmakers, during the special and zero hour of the parliament, drew the government’s attention towards various pressing needs such as improving the deteriorating conditions of the road, controlling the market price, good-governance.
