Chairman and Managing Director of Kantipur Media Group (KMG), Kailash Sirohiya, said Wagle was appointed as the chief editor of the daily newspaper amid a function at KMG office in Central Business Park, Thapathali, Kathmandu on Friday. Sirohiya informed the resignation of former Editor-in-Chief Sudheer Sharma was approved today itself.
Wagle was associated with Kantipur daily since its establishment and served as Editor for five years before he resigned on 2008.
“Ten years ago he [Wagle] had parted with this media house for various reasons,” said CMD Sirohiya. “We decided to bring him back for his experience, honesty and professional integrity. Kantipur will take a new height under his house.”
At the function, the newly appointed editor-in-chief said he believes in team work and vowed to work together with everyone in the team in order to take the Kantipur daily and Nepali journalism to a new height.
“I did my journalism with this media house for a long time and stayed out for some time. I will apply the experience and skills I learned during this time,” said Wagle.
Former Editor-in-Chief Sudheer Sharma said he led Kantipur daily news room as Wagle’s successor for a decade and said he is happy to hand over the leadership to Wagle. “He [Wagle] is a capable and experienced leader,” said the outgoing editor-in-chief. “I am hopeful that he [Wagle] will take Kantipur to a new height with his refined experience and qualification.”
KMG Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sambhav Sirohiya, heads of various departments and journalists marked their presence at the function.
