Congress has ‘golden chance’ to mend waysNepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said that the party would play the role of a model opposition of the Nepal Communist Party-led government.
Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said that the party would play the role of a model opposition of the Nepal Communist Party-led government.
Speaking at a press meet organised by the Press Union, Dang at Tulsipur on Saturday, Sharma said the party’s presence in Parliament as the sober opposition.
The party would support positive acts of the government, but would point out its weaknesses, he said, adding that the NC had decided to play the role of sober opposition in Parliament. “Street programmes and melee in Parliament would not be the ways of protest of the party.”
The internal wrangling and the left alliance were among the factors that relegated the party to the third position in the recent elections, Ghimire noted. “But the party is committed to reviving its presence and party leaders are doing their best to restore its position.”
Claiming that the incumbent PM has relatively less challenges compared to the erstwhile leadership, Sharma said it would be unfortunate for the nation if the present government failed to achieve the target of 8 percent economic growth.
On the occasion, he also suggested Prime Minister KP Oli to move ahead with strong will power, dedication, open heart and maximum flexibility.
Reacting to the budget presented by Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada at Parliament on Tuesday, he said it appeared far too ambitious. “The slogan for rapid economic growth does not match with the budget.”
