A female rhinoceros has been found dead at Kawasoti Municipality-17 of Nawalparasi district.
According to Chief Sector Forest Office, Kawasoti, Krishna Devkota, locals informed the forest authorities after spotting the rhino at a bush in Amaltari of the district. The rhino, presumed to be 16 years old, was pregnant. However, its horn was found intact.
Authorities presumed the rhino died due to complications while giving birth. An autopsy team from Sauraha has arrived for post mortem of the dead mammal.
