Head Constable Durga Bahadur Rana, who had put his life on the line by hurling back a bomb thrown into a polling centre at Ambas in Tulsipur, was promoted to Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) on Thursday.
Rana was promoted to ASI under the direction of Minister for Home Affairs Janardan Sharma.
The second phase of locals polls were going on at the Adharbhoot Lower Secondary School in Tulsipur-3 when a bomb was hurdled into the polling centre on June 28.
The indomitable Rana, however, caught the bomb and threw it almost 50 metres away, saving the lives of hundreds of people who were queuing up to cast their vote.
