The Jay Prithvi Highway that connects Bajhang district to other districts of the nation has been obstructed since the past 9 days due to a landslide that occurred on July 9 at Maallapad, Tamail.
However, the concerned authorities seem to pay no heed towards opening the lifeline to the district.
Likewise, the woeful highway is being linked with China’s Tibet.
With the beginning of monsoon season, transport services along the highway have been continuously disrupted due to landslides at Bagadgaun, Matela, Jalebagar, Tamail, Seku, Bhairabnath and Deura, Narugad and Banjh of Rayal.
According to transport entrepreneurs, it now takes them around 3 days to reach Dhangadi which, earlier, was an eight-hour drive.
Meanwhile, local businessmen have taken the opportunity to hike the prices of daily essentials.
